Clear to Proceed

Know What to Disclose on MedXPress

FAA Form 8500-8 asks detailed questions about your medical history. What you disclose — and how you disclose it — can make or break your application.

Why Disclosure Matters

The FAA cross-references your MedXPress application against external databases, including DMV records, the National Driver Register, and pharmacy records. Non-disclosure risks certificate revocation — even years later. It's always better to disclose and explain than to omit and get caught.

What Must Be Reported

  • All medical conditions: Any condition you've been diagnosed with or treated for, past or present
  • All medications: Current and recent prescriptions, including psychiatric medications
  • New conditions: Any diagnosis or medication change since your last MedXPress must be reported on your next application
  • Surgical history: All surgeries, hospitalizations, and medical procedures
  • Legal history: DUI/DWI arrests and convictions (also requires separate reporting to FAA Civil Aviation Security within 60 days)

Prepare Before You Apply

The smartest move is to know your certification pathway before you fill out MedXPress. If you have a condition that requires a Special Issuance or additional documentation, submitting an unprepared application can result in a denial on your permanent FAA record — which makes every future application harder.

How Clear to Proceed Helps

Our assessment reviews your conditions, medications, and history to tell you exactly which items need supporting documentation and which might trigger a deferral — before you submit.
